Meet the Team
Cheslyn, director and co-founder of Maverick Safaris, is a professional hunter who developed an affinity for the industry after his introduction to hunting in 2008. He has completed numerous safaris across South Africa, and is driven to instil others with an appreciation for nature and the discipline of the hunt. He believes in conservation of the industry through responsible hunting and breeding practices and famously says that ‘whilst big-five hunting is the pinnacle of the hunting industry, it can only be preserved through sustainable conservation and education programs.’ Cheslyn is an activist for the transformation of the value chain across the industry.
Rory was introduced to hunting at the age of 17 and has claimed many trophies across Southern Africa. Growing up in Namibia, and having extensively spent his time on safari, he has a deeply ingrained understanding and appreciation for nature. Rory is a qualified professional hunter in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Free State Provinces. He is also actively involved in Club Sport Shooting, and most importantly encourages a healthy respect for firearms.
Rynhard grew up in the Free State and has pursued his hobby of hunting for the past 8 years. As a qualified Professional Hunter who is well-acquainted with the dunes of the Kalahari as well as hunts on open plains, Rynhard shares a wealth of experience as a walk and stalk enthusiast. He has been shooting competitively since the age of 16. Combining his passion for farming, game-viewing, and hunting with a background in tourism management he specialises in game-farm and events management. His respect for nature is nurtured through extensive reading and study of animals, their behaviour, and habitats. His favourite animal is the Nyala bull.
