About us

At Maverick Safaris our passion for hunting has shaped our philosophy and desire to expose more people to this exciting sport. Our commitment to encourage sustainable hunting practices is portrayed in our consistent desire to create and attract positive awareness to the appreciation and conservation of the diverse fauna and flora in Southern Africa.

Maverick Safaris offers pre-packaged as well as bespoke hunting adventures across Southern Africa, with footprints in three pristine regions of South Africa itself: the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape, and Free State. Each of these regions offer distinctly different hunting experiences in which the best memories are made.  We are also registered with PHASA (Professional Hunters Association of South Africa) and SCI (Safari Club International). Aside from our packages being competitive, affordable and accessible, they are also combined with outstanding service from a group of dedicated, dynamic individuals. Our team members each hold many years of experience as professional hunters, hunting outfitters, and safari guides amongst them. At Maverick Safaris we indulge our guests with the most comfortable facilities, breath-taking expeditions, and service that always puts them first. Whether you’re an international visitor or local guest, we manage the finest details so you can arrive, unwind and focus solely on the enjoyment of each day.

Meet the Team

Cheslyn Mostert

Cheslyn, director and co-founder of Maverick Safaris, is a professional hunter who developed an affinity for the industry after his introduction to hunting in 2008. He has completed numerous safaris across South Africa, and is driven to instil others with an appreciation for nature and the discipline of the hunt. He believes in conservation of the industry through responsible hunting and breeding practices and famously says that ‘whilst big-five hunting is the pinnacle of the hunting industry, it can only be preserved through sustainable conservation and education programs.’ Cheslyn is an activist for the transformation of the value chain across the industry.

Rory Abrahams

Rory was introduced to hunting at the age of 17 and has claimed many trophies across Southern Africa. Growing up in Namibia, and having extensively spent his time on safari, he has a deeply ingrained understanding and appreciation for nature. Rory is a qualified professional hunter in the Eastern Cape, Northern Cape and Free State Provinces. He is also actively involved in Club Sport Shooting, and most importantly encourages a healthy respect for firearms.
